Heart Check Of America

Only a third of Spanish companies hire people with disabilities

Only 35% of English companies with templates for more than 50 workers have been recruited to a disabled person, according to a study conducted by Professor Carlos Guillen, the University of Cadiz, which has been funded by the Fundación Mapfre.

The study "Disability and business: an analysis of productivity. The opportunity cost unknown ', which has been presented, is to highlight the benefits and costs involved in hiring people with disabilities and have a tool that analyzes the reasons for the high rate of unemployment and inactivity of those with disabilities in Spain, according to Guillén said.

In this regard, Guillén began to relive that hiring people with disabilities, while making financial savings to organizations, involves a number of other benefits, such as the generation of value creation models that are transferable across the enterprise. In addition, also showed that although there is a broad knowledge of labor law on persons with disabilities, few companies take the step of hiring people with disabilities.

Guillen said the breach of the law which promotes non-discrimination against people with disabilities is higher among public sector companies from the private sector, with 25% and 38% respectively.

Although 90 percent of the companies that were surveyed for the study have indicated that hiring people with disabilities are profitable, 80 percent of them mentioned the need for increased public service recruitment advantages. Via
