The Nunnery, Uxmal, Yucatan, Mexico

Behind the Pyramid of the Magician is a large patio situated on a large square platform aside 120m approx. On each side rise buildings having a large number of rooms that open onto the patio. This led, in the first visit of the English to this place, comparing it to a convent, thus adopting the name of Casa de las Monjas, or Nunnery.

I was impressed this wide open space, the composcisión and rhythm of each buildings makes this place unique among the Maya, in addition to that extent this space not to mention every detail carved friezes, just perfect. Temple
